I was hoping to light a fire in to this blog today, fall is coming around and I’m starting to hang out more in SL again… But yeah, I fucked something up, so all the pictures on my previous posts are gone. Poof. Just one giant facepalm. So until I get the energy to fix that, you’re just going to have to imagine it.

I’ve been in Second Life long enough to know how it goes. Around May, when the weather starts getting better, I start to lose interest in Second Life. Each time I think that maybe it’s time to quit. I log on less and less. All of a sudden it’s been 2 months without logging on. Then, come mid-September, as it’s getting colder I start craving my online life back.
So, what I’m trying to say is; I’m taking a break. I won’t be logging on as often and when I do it’s only going to be business. So this blog will be hibernating for a while.
I adore things and people that are clever. The creator behind Lolapop, Lola79 Hienrichs, is clever. Better yet, she makes pretty things that are clever.
Just have a look at these two pieces of jewelry.
The choker is called “Bitten” and seriously, just look at how she makes a bite from a vampire in to jewelry. The detailing of the chains with the blood-drops are fantastic.
The necklace has a squiq on it, guess what it is? It’s a Caffeine Molecule. I mean, come on! How cool is that?
A big plus for Lolapop is that she put her choker and necklace on dual attachment points, meaning I could wear these two pieces together without any extra hassle. The necklace here also came in leather and silver strap, another big plus. I love multiple choices, it makes for easier matching with other pieces.
If you, like me, have a thing for clever, stop by at Lolapop, I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Ok, so we’ve gone through the bad and the ugly and why this day is important. Now I want to show you why it’s also a day for “Woho:ing” and jumping randomly for joy.
All the awesome pink stuff the designers and creators are putting out today. There’s like… well… gazilllion might be pushing it, but there is a lot of it. And not just shirts, there’s dresses and shoes and I think I even saw a birdhouse. Here’s my batch of finds. Probably the only day of the year you’ll see me in pink, so have fun with (at) it.
HopScotch gives you this nice shirt, the pants with cuffs and the pose, it’s like Christmas over there, go check that out. The dress is from Sn@tch and it has two skirt options, the frilly one I’m wearing or a crotchflap one for a tight look. The espadrilles from Duh was a god-sent, because I don’t have a single pink shoe in my inventory. Not one.
The Shirt and the pink jeans is from Dreams. It also includes a lighter pink version of the shirt for the more discrete. The pink little ballerinas comes from alaMood and comes in three different patterns. Again, saved by the outfit-gods. The slinky little outfit next to it was made by my Sister Marja and comes from our store Kissed By Lithium. It’s a Limited Edition pre-release, so if you want it, you better get running. The shoes I got to match is from Larnia Kids, but hey, if you got small feet like me, they can fit you too.
And, it is Pink Shirt Day, so there’s a whole ton of actual Pink Shirt out there too, here’s a few of my favorites.
I want to close out this day with a big fat Thank you and a hug-that-will-make-you-blue to December Dollinger. She’s the brain behind it all and if it wasn’t for her, none of us would be thinking about this today. Thank you December.
This is probably the most personal blog I will ever post to this site, it’s mainly about my real life and how I struggled with bullying. It can for some be hard to read, so please be warned. If you’re especially sensitive, stop reading now.
My name is Kissowa Kamachi, and I have been bullied.
It all started in 3rd grade. I had become one of the few of my age to have gotten my period and started puberty. I was keeping this a secret from my friends and classmates, because no one wants to be first, right?
Time comes for vaccination and through a very unfortunate mistake where the school-nurse had left my papers out on the desk and another pupil to saw it, My secret was out.
To make matters worse, this was around the same time I got glasses. You can imagine.
I had three main antagonists, where one of them I thought was my best friend. That alone crushed me. I got things thrown after me, things said to my face and behind my back and even had boys acting like my new tits where their property to do with what they wanted.
When puberty was no longer a novelty and I had gotten contact lenses, the bullying started to be about my weight. I believed them. I thought I was huge and grotesque. I’ve seen the picture from this time and let me tell you, I’d kill for that body now.
But that’s how it works, it’s never about puberty, weight, glasses or anything else you can dream up. It’s the hierarchy and someone has to be at the bottom for someone to be on the top, or so it seems.
I had my first depression at 10. I was an insomniac at 13. I had “Suicidal Tendencies” written all over my charts even before I was 15. To this day I have problems with both anxiety, insomniac and depression. Because three girls chose me to be the at the bottom.
I want to point out that I don’t blame these girls. I blame their parents. To get a hold of this huge problems, it’s the adults that need education. They need to know what actually goes on with their kids. The good, the bad, the ugly and the downright heartbreaking.
We need to teach our children that being popular doesn’t automatically mean someone else has to be unpopular. Teach them what matters. Teach them to be real, good and honest kids.We need to teach them to be human beings and it needs to start at a very early age. Do your part, talk to a child about bullying. Maybe you’ll teach them something. Maybe they’ll teach you something.
Even if you’re not a fan of pink, like myself, tomorrow you’ll be tempted to wear it, no doubt. The whole grid will turn pink for Pink Shirt Day. It’s meant to spread awareness about bullying and what we can do to help. So slap on that pink people!
There is a mass of creators joining in on this, in fact too many to list here, I’d get arthritis or something. They all have a special pink item out, some are freebies, some are discounted, some are new, some are old but nothing is blue. So I suggest doing some serious Pink hunting tomorrow, I will. Might be the first and the last time you see me swaying around in Pink, so make it last, take a pic.
A big fat applaud to December Dollinger who organized this event AND managed to make all 50 of us fashionistas/bloggers/store-owers stand still for over an hour to take that pic. That’s some skills right there
Long Awkward pose or [LAP] for short is one of the very first pose-store I came in to contact with as a young SL’er. So, being the pose addict that I am, I have literally hundred of LAP poses. No joke.
At the LAP booth at the pose fair I’ll admit I very close to just sending my wallet in to tears. But, as there were more booths to be visited I paced my self and “settled” for this group of poses with a butterfly prop. This set contains five poses with butterflies. Butterflies are mod, so don’t worry, even amazon-tall Kissowa made it work.
The niftiest thing about this set is that you pay what you want for it. If you’re down to your last linden, you can get it. If you just won the lottery and want to share the wealth, by all means, go ahead. 100% goes to Pose Fairs official charity Motivation.
Glitterati is a goldmine of beautiful poses and pose-props. I dare say it’s one of top pose makers on the grid and it’s a well earned place. There’s a bunch of goodies from Glitterati on the Pose fair, but this what made me go “Woho”.
I make a lot of vendor ads and the ones I dread the most is the jewelry ones. If you want to include both necklace/earrings and bracelets/rings, you’ll have a tough time finding poses. Most poses I’ve found have been awkward and unnatural and it’s just hard to get right.
Katey Coppola of Glitterati just saved me a ton of hair-tearing. Her new Jewelry pose set contains ten poses made especially for this challenge. Work with angles and you’ve got yourself a set that will last you a long time. The poses look natural and are as well made as all of Katey’s poses, so it’s well worth every single penny.
Also a big applaud to Katey for organizing the Pose Fair, well done!
In a pause from Pose Fair I want to tell you about my latest addition to my vast collection of shoes. Let me present you to Baby T’s by Pixel Mode.
A dangerously high-heeled built-in platform pump in all of springs colors. Baby T’s comes with or without a sculpty sock. I opted for the non-sock version because quite frankly I hate socks. Ok I admit, I have sock-phobia. Yeah I’m weird. Err…
Anyway, for some reason I fell madly in love with the purple shades of this shoe, which is odd, I generally go for Red or Black. But these purple ones are so delicious you almost want to take a bite. However, if you don’t like purple, don’t fret. Baby T’s comes in 19 (!) different colors, including the very rare orange and yellow. I mean really, how often do you see yellow and orange on pumps? Except halloween that is. Talented creator Tya Fallingbridge makes even these colors look absolutely fantastic, so much that I’m considering going back and getting them too. Yeah, dangerous is the word.
Pose Fair is a real mekka for pose props, so if you dig them, you should be right at home. Favorite number 2 from Pose Fair comes from aDORKable poses; “Girl’s Only”.
“Girls Only” is a pose prop with a very cute slumber-party scene. Just for us girls to frolic around in our PJ’s. No boys allowed! Creator Adorkable Peapod has thought of everything, from your obligatory cupcakes to the Truth & Dare game, you’ve got everything you need to make the perfect slumber-party shot. “Girls Only” have 5 poses and allows several avatars at once. It’s also copyable and modifiable, so you can play with colors if you fancy that.
