7 Days of Truth – #3

So far I’ve admitted to having a lack of discipline and being virtually organized.

Here’s Truth #3; I have coulrophobia (fear of clowns).

I know what most of you are thinking now. You probably think I’ve seen (or read) IT and got spooked. First half is true. I have both seen and read IT. It took me about ten times as long as any other movie or book, but I did it. My attempt at shock-therapy. But I was actually afraid of clowns long before.

As a kid I was probably the only one who actually detested the circus and by the age 4 I had physically abused a famous fast-food mascot with his own inflated balloon. No one seems to know why, I have no traumas involving clowns in my past.

None the less, I maintain that anyone having to paint a smile on is evil.

TP to – West of Ireland

It’s hard to miss the fact that today is Saint Patrick’s Day, a holiday celebrated through-out Second Life. So, for today’s TP to I’m taking you to West of Ireland. It’s a sim that’s a little bit different from other sims, as stated on their website:

The mission of the West of Ireland is to promote Irish and Celtic culture within Second Life and raise awareness of Project Children, while providing guests and community members with an entertaining and welcoming environment.

So, while you can hang at a pub, shop or listen to live music you can also help contribute to a worthy cause.

Of course, Saint Patrick’s Day is a big thing on this sim and there’s a mass of things to do here today. It starts off at 11 am SLT with a live act and keeps on going the entire day. But it doesn’t stop there, nope, this is only one part of a Festival running until the 22nd of March. So if you feel like going out having a RL drink at a RL Irish bar, you can always go to West of Ireland tomorrow.

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

TP to West of Ireland.

7 Days of Truth – #2

Yesterday I started of my truth challenge by admitting I lacked discipline. This next truth might feel like it’s in conflict with the first one.

Truth #2; When it comes to my virtual life, I am very neat and organized.

You’d think with my lack of discipline, this wouldn’t be so, but in fact it helps. Cleaning inventory or organizing hard-drives is what I do when I should be doing other things. Like homework. Or ads.

Unfortunatley this is a concept that’s exclusive to my virtual world. While my hard-drives, emails and inventory is neatly organized, my desk, bedroom and kitchen is a big fat mess. Piles upon piles of stuff.

Mind you, not gross, just not organized. Yet somehow I always manage to find exactly what I’m looking for anyway, which is probably why I don’t bother organizing it in the first place.

TP to – The Legend

Labeled as a romance and free RP sim, The Legend is a bit of a summers paradise, which is exactly what I need right now. The sun turned up in March promising spring and summer right around the corner and I can’t wait for it.

Meanwhile I can saunter around The Legend with it’s meadow, beaches and little hidden spots. A bit of a haven for couples too, with cuddle-spots scattered all over. If you, like me, is sick of winter already, this is the spot for you.

7 Days of Truth – #1

Prue over at Porcelain Diaries started a challenge a while ago. The challenge was to announce one truth about yourself once a day for a week. I’ve seen a lot of truths be revealed especially on plurk and I’ve enjoyed them, so… I may be very slow to jump on the bandwagon, but hey, better late than never.

So here’s Truth #1; I have extremely bad discipline and I’m a master of procrastination. I need either a bout of inspiration or extreme pressure to perform. I do my very best work the last few hours before a definite deadline.

Thankfully I’m very aware of my lack of discipline, so when inspiration hits, I produce in masses. Like for instance this challenge. I know that 7 truths in 7 consecutive days will almost certainly fail. I will be uninspired, tired or preoccupied.

So, when I’m inspired (like now) I’ll instead blog multiple truths and time-schedule them for each day. That way I don’t have to feel angst if I should want a day off-line.

TP to – Drowsy

I really enjoy it when shopping-oriented sims do something different. Rather than just slapping up a mall with booths, they go the extra mile to make people enjoy the sim, not just shop in it.

Drowsy is one of those. Drowsy is home to a few selected stores but is first and foremost a beautiful place worthy of exploring. The shopping aspect is so well integrated that I actually had moments when I didn’t know it was a shop until I hovered over something that was for sale.

You land in the town square of a small harbor city with small shops, theaters and alley’s to explore. It then continues on in to the wild offering some lush nature as well. Very interesting and explorer-friendly.

Pure Shoegasm

We’ve established that I have a somewhat unhealthy love for shoes. This fetish usually take form in drooling over heels, the taller the better. But every once in a while I find myself craving something a bit unusual (for me). This is one of those moments. I happened to glance over these by chance, only because Mic Rocka (aka Kafka Dinzeo) was performing at the sneaker release party.

This is the Pure Sneaker by 2Real. One extremely realistic and highly customizable sneaker. I dare say that once you’ve bought this pair, you won’t have to buy another pair ever again (unless you, like me, buy for the fun of it). Every little detail can be customized, down to the little loopholes and even the inside of the shoes. You can chose between 14 colors to mix and match. If you don’t feel like making your own, it also includes 5 presets, where one is a tribute to formerly mentioned Mic Rocka.

It’s also resizable, but if you don’t want to do that either it comes in two sizes, one small and one large, ready to go. You probably think this wonder of a sneaker will set you back a couple of thousand, right? Wrong! On top of all it’s affordable, retailing at 600L. I mean, seriously, what more can you ask for?

TP to – Adelaide Forest

Adelaide Forest is a commercial-free open to the public sim built by the talented Jasper Ashley. It’s a beautiful lush forest in autumn color with some great opportunities for exploration, relaxing or even romance. You can read a book by a waterfall, have a picnic in the grass or meditate by the lake. For the romantically inclined there’s couples dance-balls and cuddle spots all over the forest. Really just an excellent spot to to hang out in.

You have been tagged

And I’m not talking the blog-tag kind either. I’m talking about a new nuisance I’ve seen coming up in the SL fashion industry. The tags. Boldly hanging out from skirt and sweater, often in a screaming red color, there they are, the tags.

Unfortunately one of my favorite sweater is tagged and it’s making me a bit cringy when I see it. Now, I usually apply my RL experience to my SL and RL tells me that tags hanging out should be cut off immediately. In SL we don’t have that luxury and are forced to live with it.

In my country it’s even considered bad fashion etiquette to have tags or labels on your clothing (with the exception of jeans for some reason). If the logo is a part of the design (Louis Vitton and Yves Saint Laurent comes to mind) it’s perfectly fine, but a red tag hanging out? Not so much.

I don’t even see the reason for it. The tags are small and hardly readable, so it can’t be about exposure. The designers using this way of tagging is also highly recognizable in their design style already. I bet most of you can name the two designers these items came from without looking at said tag. Is it some odd form of copybot protection? I really don’t understand it and it’s starting to become one of my top Pet Peeve’s.

The Death of my Adder.

I haven’t been around on the interwebz much lately and there is a reason for that. The one thing I spend the most time with in this world is dying.

My Razer Death Adder. My mouse. It’s gone completely haywire and it just makes me want to shoot it. Then set it on fire. And throw it out the window. And shoot it again.  It double-click when I single-click, click when  don’t click, aborts drag and drop and is just generally a big fat mess.

Now, I bought this mouse early -07, so it’s been a good run for the money, don’t get me wrong. But I love this mouse, it’s perfect for my hand, got just the right amount of buttons and isn’t overly sensitive, but not slow either. This is a great loss for me. Also, I can’t afford to buy the Re-spawn Death Adder right now. So I’m sad and I don’t want to be on the interwebz anymore. I’ll be back when I’ve robbed a bank or borrowed some mouse-cash from Mom. Mouse-cash. Now that’s a word-combo I thought I’d never use.
